M. Tigranyan graduated from the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory and in 2016 defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic "Traditional Armenian Wedding Praise Songs in the Context of Ancient Ritual." She taught at the Armavir State College of Arts (1995–2005), and since 2004 has been teaching at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. Since 2010 she has been a researcher at the Institute of Arts of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (and since 2016, a Senior Researcher). In 2025–2026 she served as Head of the Scientific-Educational Department of the Komitas Museum-Institute. M. Tigranyan is the author of around 50 scientific articles; her areas of interest include issues of Armenian traditional music and ethnomusicology.
