Komitas Museum Music library

The library was founded in 1966 and is the only and largest specialized music repository in the region. In 2017, it was incorporated into the Komitas Museum-Institute. The collection preserves works by Armenian and foreign composers dating back to the 18th century and continues to expand today. It includes piano, vocal, string, wind, and orchestral compositions, opera scores, full scores, musicological studies (about 230,000 items), as well as a valuable collection of recordings (over 10,000 items).

The library’s holdings feature publications and archival materials bearing the autographs of renowned composers such as Aram Khachaturian, Edvard Mirzoyan, Alexander Harutyunyan, and Haro Stepanian, along with other distinguished figures of culture and art.

Information on the library’s complete collection is available through catalogs and card indexes. The library also participates in the development of the “Union Catalog of Libraries of Armenia.”
