Contemporaries about Komitas

Komitas loved children deeply, and as Father Khrimian used to call him, he was a “psychologist–pedagogue.” With his lively, energetic, humorous, and gentle nature, Komitas had won the hearts of both the older and younger children of Etchmiadzin. Twice a week, when he came to our house for lessons, the children from neighboring homes would gather in our yard. They knew that at the end of every lesson Father Komitas would come down to the yard, have “pleasant conversations” with them, teach them games, and invite those who liked to sing to join our lessons. If he saw a child crying or quarreling with a friend, the sensitive Komitas would not rest until he had reconciled them.
